Motivation for FacePix

Most existing face databases do not contain a varity of pose and illumination angles, useful for challenging face recognition algorithms under real-life, non-ideal conditions. FacePix is an annotated face database consisting of participant's faces taken at 181 pose angles and with with lighting at 181 angles.

What is in FacePix?

FacePix contains three sets of images for each participant. Each contains 181 poses, 1 degree apart.

  • Images taken from the participant's right to left, in one degree increments.
  • Images taken from the participant's front, with a spotlight moving from right to left, in one degree increments.
  • Images taken from the participant's front, with a spotlight moving from right to left and fill lights lowered for high contrast, in one degree increments.
